KPMG is currently seeking a Sr Associate in Customer & Operations for our Management Consulting practice.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform operational assessments of financial and clinical departments with a focus on documentation and coding, revenue capture, care delivery, and quality reporting
  • Develop and deliver education related to compliance, coding, and clinical documentation issues within healthcare organizations; educate providers about identification of disease processes that reflect SOI, complexity, and acuity in order to facilitate accurate application of code sets
  • Review inpatient medical records on a concurrent or retrospective basis, to identify opportunities to clarify missing or incomplete documentation
  • Utilize knowledge of medical complications, comorbidities, SOI, ROM, case mix, and the impact of procedures on the billed record, as well impart this knowledge to providers and other members of the healthcare team
  • Gather and analyze information pertinent to documentation findings and outcomes, and use this information to develop action plans for process improvements; prepare and review engagement work papers and develop written briefings and reports to present to healthcare clients
  • Maintain daily contact with client and other members of working group to obtain information and resolve issues, attend working group meetings, and facilitate the adoption and implementation of recommended improvements; educate clients on operational leading practices

Qualifications:

  • Seven years of experience in an acute care hospital or healthcare consulting role
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college/university; current registered nurse license (RN) and clinical certifications such as a Certified Clinical Documentation Specialist (CCDS) and/or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) are preferred
  • Qualified candidate should also have advanced clinical expertise and extensive knowledge of complex disease processes with broad clinical experience in an inpatient setting
  • Experience with Interqual and/or Milliman care guidelines and working knowledge of CPT/HCPCS and ICD coding is desirable
  • Proficiency in organizational skills and planning; ability to think strategically and assist in the organization and management of a multi-disciplinary team; ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-changing environment; travel may be up to 80-100%
  • Proficiency in computer use, including database and spreadsheet analysis, presentation programs, word processing and Internet search with excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, along with the demonstrated ability to gain the confidence and respect of senior executives
