KPMG is currently seeking a Manager/Senior Manager to join our Business Tax Services practice.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as an international tax advisor to alternative investment fund clients on international tax services and offerings
- Participate in business development for the expansion of services at new and existing clients; work collaboratively with other practice groups within tax, the firm, and non-U.S. KPMG member firms to bring the right services and experience to address and resolve client issues
- Manage, direct, monitor, and deliver multiple client engagements while maintaining active communication with clients in an effort to manage expectations and satisfaction
- Research, write and review client tax advice relating to domestic and international tax matters and monitor technical developments in federal and international tax applicable to clients
- Train, motivate, and develop staff, senior, and manager level members on all facets of the practice, including application of current and new/developing tax laws, engagement processes, risk management policies, engagement economics, and new business development
- Deliver high quality tax service and advice, assess tax impact, develop tax arguments to support conclusions, and suggest plans to clients
Additional Responsibilities for Senior Manager:
- Team with other professionals to identify new marketplace opportunities and grow the KPMG tax practice
- Manage a portfolio of clients of varying size and scope and act as the first point of contact for internal and external clients
Qualifications:
- A minimum of five years of tax experience in the financial services industry supporting registered investment funds and alternative investments (investment partnership and or mutual fund tax experience), with particular focus on international tax consulting
- Previous experience as a tax manager with a public accounting firm
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university; licensed CPA or J.D./LL.M. or foreign equivalent (Please note that any candidate hired by KPMG into this position that doesn’t currently possess one of the aforementioned credentials/designations will be required to secure one within one year from the commencement of employment)
- Candidates with international corporate tax experience should have previous experience with several of the following common international tax planning areas: outbound transactional structuring, Subpart F and 954(h), inbound transactional structuring, Check the Box principles, U.S. Tax Treaty research and interpretation, repatriation strategies, structured finance, base shifting, FSC/EIE, foreign tax credit planning, transfer pricing, and international mergers and acquisitions
- Demonstrated leadership ability and the ability to manage multiple engagements and client service teams
- Strong planning, research, and communication skills, as well as general knowledge of tax compliance; demonstrated ability to develop business
Additional Qualifications for a Senior Manager:
- A minimum of eight years of tax experience in the financial services industry supporting registered investment funds and alternative investments (investment partnership and/or mutual fund tax experience), with particular focus on international tax consulting
- Experience mentoring and counseling staff-level team members and managing client relationships
